Challenge Accepted...

So, about a year ago, my roommate and I came up with this brilliant idea (or what seemed brilliant after a few glasses of rum and/or wine).  It was to only shop at the Super 24 for 24 days.  Super 24 is a local convenience store chain here in Guatemala.  I mean, they seriously have everything you could possibly want or need--alcohol, food, toiletries, everything.  For some reason or another, we never got around to doing it.

This year, Lindsey has proposed the idea again.  And since I really didn't have any other ideas for Lenten resolutions, this seemed as good as any.  This time it will last the 40 days of Lent--she in Kuwait, me in Guatemala.  She will be doing all of her shopping at the convenience store there.

You can check out her progress on her blog:  http://bakalalivin.blogspot.com/

The rules (adjusted a little for me):

  • I can only purchase necessary items that I am planning to consume right away.
  • I can not eat out, unless I am on vacation.
  • I can buy fresh vegetables and fruits from the stand in my neighborhood.

I made my first stop today (after accepting) and now I'm a little nervous, but here goes nothin'!
